1st Annual Detroit Rib Cook Off

Who’s down for a little competition? If you think your BBQ skillz are the best in town let the city be the judge!

5 Elements Gallery (2661 Michigan Ave., Detroit, MI 48216)

This event is FREE and open to everyone in the city of Detroit that loves food, music, friends, art and a good time. DJ friends are encouraged to bring records.

The competition cook-off  is open to those that are ready to BRING IT on the grill and collect bragging rights for a year. Let the Grillz Burn!!

Entry Requirements:
3 ribs to be judged at a set time to be determined the day of (depending on how many contestants.) Whatever preparations, sauces, marinades you do before the event is up to you. The venue will open at 10am for set up. The judging will begin at 3pm. What type of rib you cook is completely up to the chef, as long as it’s a bone barring rib. You are more the welcome to cook up how ever many slabs, chicken, etc..to hand out samples and make this a fun day for the love of food, just know that 3 ribs are all that’s required for entry (we know times are tough for even some of our best chefs lol)

Ribs will be judged on Flavor, Appearance, Tenderness, consistency and Overall Impression.

All other supporters, fans, friends and family are encouraged to bring a dish to pass: mac-n-cheese, pasta salads, beans, corn bread, greens, desserts, pop, etc.

Anyone participating in grilling should know that this is a BYOG event (bring your own grill, which includes any cooking utensils/charcoal/wood chips/etc you might need) There will be plenty of space provided. Camping style chairs for the backyard is ideal.
