Eminem’s “Marshall Mathers LP” Certified Diamond

April 26, 2011

For the second time this year, Eminem has received the Recording Industry Association of America’s (RIAA) highest honor. The RIAA has certified that 11 years after its initial release, Em’s Marshall Mathers LP has earned a diamond plaque by surpassing 10 million copies sold. MMLP featured standout Eminem songs such as “Stan,” “The Way I Am,” and “Criminal.”

This announcement is just the latest in a short but successful 2011 for Eminem. In February, his latest album Recovery won the Grammy Award for Rap Album of the Year. Just last month, he received a previous diamond plaque for his album The Eminem Show. This year has also seen Em’s Shady Records sign Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf to new deals.

Eminem and Royce Da 5’9″ Announce Bad Meets Evil EP

Slaughterhouse’s deal with Shady Records and various collaborations and leaks have garnered attention, but this week, Detroit hip-hop fans have received the news they have been hoping to hear for nearly a decade. Eminem and Royce Da 5’9” will finally reunite as Bad Meets Evil for a new EP through Interscope Records.

The new EP, which will drop on June 14 according to a report by RapRadar, will feature production by Mr. Porter, Havoc, DJ Khalil, Bangladesh and others.

“Royce and I started hanging out again and inevitably that led us back into the studio,” Eminem said. “At first we were just seeing where it went without any real goal in mind, but the songs started to come together crazy, so here we are.”

“I’m excited to see this project come to fruition considering the long lapse in time between when we worked before and now,” Royce added. “We had a blast doing it and we just hope everyone enjoys it while we’re working on the ‘Monster’ that will be the Slaughterhouse album. #TeamShady”
