Over Memorial Day weekend Captain Morgan kicked off the summer by throwing a string of house parties across the nation and MichiganHipHop.com was honored to team up with Captain to throw one of our own.
First off we’d like to give special thanks Dwele & Ron Dance for hosting the party. We’d also like to thank Black Milk, DJ Graffiti, Jamall Bufford (formerly Buff1), Big Tone, Richard Lawler, J Tait, Miss Melody Fresh, MiMi, Tres Styles and everybody else who made it out (there were way too many people there to name everyone). For the second time this year, Eminem has received the Recording Industry Association of America’s (RIAA) highest honor. The RIAA has certified that 11 years after its initial release, Em’s Marshall Mathers LP has earned a diamond plaque by surpassing 10 million copies sold. MMLP featured standout Eminem songs such as “Stan,” “The Way I Am,” and “Criminal.”
This announcement is just the latest in a short but successful 2011 for Eminem. In February, his latest album Recovery won the Grammy Award for Rap Album of the Year. Just last month, he received a previous diamond plaque for his album The Eminem Show. This year has also seen Em’s Shady Records sign Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf to new deals.
